Wimbledon has said it will distribute 10 million pounds of prize money, which is set aside for the Championships to 620 players, who were going to take part in this years cancelled tournament.
The All England Club said the players in the main draw will receive 25,000 pounds each, while each player set to compete in the qualifying rounds will be given 12,500 pounds. It also added that doubles and wheelchair players will be receiving money as well.
Wimbledon was initially scheduled for the 29th of June to the 12th of July, but the Grand Slam event was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. This is the first time since World War 2 that the tournament has been called off.
